Celebrate Your Friendships!

Several times in my life I have found myself faced with beginning a new stage of life with few close friends nearby. Each time, I found a new friend (or friends) who made the transition easier- not necessarily by giving me advice on the new things in life but just by being there to make me laugh and to give me time away from the stress that inevitably comes in any new situation. Now that I have moved away from my hometown and from my college, I don’t get to see some of these special friends as much and don’t say thank you nearly enough when I do see them. But that’s what International Women’s Friendship Month is all about!

Kappa Delta created National Women’s Friendship Day in 1999. In 2009 the celebration was extended to the entire month and now we are happy that the special bond of women’s friendship is celebrated internationally! During this month Kappa Delta and the Confidence Coalition encourage women to spend a little extra time with their friends and to really show their appreciation for those friendships.

Today I’d like to take the time to thank Aja and Danni for helping me when I transferred to a new high school, Elizabeth for making me more comfortable at college, Carrie and Adrienne for making me love Durham, and so many other wonderful women who have touched my life.

TriangleKD wants to give you a way to celebrate International Women’s Friendship Month! This Sunday, September 28th, at 1pm we will be having brunch together at Coquette Brasserie in Raleigh. We hope you will join us if you are able to celebrate the friendships fostered through TriangleKD and will bring a friend to show them how much they mean to you! You should have received a PaperlessPost invitation to this event but you can see our calendar for more details and email us to RSVP.
